In a brewing process, dry malt and water are brought together and mixed at interface with pressure differential. An Independent claim is also included for an assembly with a malt hopper (2) with a suction feed tube to a mixer vat (18). The vat is linked to the hopper via a mechanical handling device incorporating a water (7) jet (8) and pump (30). The dry malt and water are mixed in a venturi jet (9) and discharged into the soaking vat.
