The method involves the following steps: (a) using a sensor for recording image and profile data of an approaching or receding vehicle from the background data; (b) using data processing unit to process sensor data and generate report data; (c) storing data in non-volatile writable or re-writable memory; and (d) outputting information from the processed data.
