A halogen incandescent lamp has at least one bulb vessel (1) and light source (2,3), a base (9) with electrical connections, a metal holder in which the bulb is fixed and reference protrusions (11a,11b) in a common plane and an annular base flange (12) with sprung peripheral lugs (12a,12b) for fixing the lamp in a headlamp with the protrusions. The protrusions are formed on a reference ring (11) joined to the metal holder and base flange and with a flat annular surface parallel to the plane of the flange.
