Stable ascorbic acid-containing oil-in-water emulsions, useful e.g. for combating skin aging or UV-induced skin damage, containing emulsifying mixture of glucose derivative and oligo-glycerol derivative surfactants

Oil-in-water emulsions (A) containing ascorbic acid (I) also contain an emulsifying mixture of (a) at least one methylglucose ester derivative surfactant (II) and (b) at least one optionally esterified oligo-glycerol derivative surfactant (III). Oil-in-water emulsions (A) containing ascorbic acid (I) also contain an emulsifying mixture of: (a) at least one glucose derivative surfactant of formula (II); and (b) at least one oligo-glycerol derivative surfactant of formula (III). R = 1-24C alkyl; R1, R2 = H or 1-24C alkyl; R3 - R5 = H or 8-24C linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated fatty acid residue (optionally substituted by 1-3 OH); n = 2-8. N.B. R is defined but does not appear in the formulae or list of definitions. Independent claims are also included for: (i) cosmetic and/or dermatological preparations containing (A); and (ii) the preparation of stable electrolyte-containing oil-in-water emulsions (preferably, but not necessarily, containing (I)) by using an emulsifier mixture of (a) and (b).
