The base component of the sliding sleeve is manufactured from a profiled band which is profiled on at least one side, whereby the bent over ends of a sheet metal strip (8) cut to length from the band each have a pair (7) of form-fitting elements engaging in each other. The ends lie one upon the other with form locking at least tangentially to the base component and in the same direction in relation to the center axis of the base component. An Independent claim is included for a procedure for the manufacture of a base component in which to connect the cut edges of a strip form-fitting elements are constructed on the cut edges.
