An oil measuring stick consists of an oblong hollow cylinder (1), at the end of which there is a hollow body and a drain plug (3) for holding and sealing in the wall of an engine casing. At a bottom end there is a sensor (4) to detect oil level. A coaxial cable (5) runs in the hollow cylinder and links the sensor to an evaluatory electronic device (EED) in the hollow body. The EED connects to an engine control device via a cable (6).
