The edge maintenance vehicle has a hydro-mechanically and/or electro-mechanically positioned clearing device (7) supported horizontally at the side of the vehicle chassis (1) by a floating bearing from a tool carrier (6) moved vertically along guide rails (15,16), the clearing device tipped through 180 degrees and provided with a sensor control for scanning the road edge surface.
