An escapement for a precision pendulum clock has means for setting the pendulum oscillating that require only minimal intervention in the movement path. Horizontal displacement of the rotation point is minimal and constant. To drive the pendulum, no additional components, such as leaf spring or weighted lever are required to come into contact with the pendulum.
