A mechanism at a loom compensates for changes in the tension of the leno warps (2) as the shed changes, when weaving leno fabrics (14), while they are drawn off the warp beam (3) over a rotating back rest roller (4) as a band of warps (5). The standing yarns (1) of the band of warps are carried over the back rest roller and the leno yarns travel over a rod (6) keyed to the back rest roller and parallel to it.
