The central valve assembly, for a high pressure pump, has suction and pressure valves (3,4) which control the inflow and outflow channels (30,34). The inflow channel (30) has a ring-shaped cross section, concentric to the central outflow channel (34). The housing body (9) is divided, with an outer section forming the outer circumference of the inflow channel, and an inner section axially through it with the outflow channel to give the inner circumference of the inflow channel.
