Anode has a base material made from a cermet with palladium or palladium alloys as the catalytic component. An Independent claim is also included for a solid electrolyte fuel cell, comprising an oxidic electrolyte, a cathode and an anode made from the above base material. Preferred Features: The alloying element of the palladium alloy is silver in an amount of not more than 70%, or gold and/or platinum, preferably titanium and zirconium.
