Container comprises a storage space (2) having limiting walls and provided with devices preventing objects in the storage space from slipping or rattling about. The devices are holding-down devices (13) which can be transferred from a non-operational into an operational position. The holding-down device extends over almost the entire internal width of the storage space and is hinged on the underside of a lid (11) closing the storage space. The holding-down device is a U-shaped wire clip (14) having free ends (15, 16) joined together by an elastic component, preferably a tension spring (17).
