A method for tracking of goods provided with a preferably optically readable, especially alphanumerical identification, involves detecting the identification as an image on a detection device and the image is then converted in the detection device by digitalization into the image data and the image data is then transmitted from the detection device by radio to a receiver. The receiver is connected to a computer system that further evaluates or analyses the image data. Independent claims are given for the following: (A) A system for tracking goods. (B) A detection device.
