The torque sensor has a source attached to the shaft (1) and a cooperating stationary sensor (9) with a pair of sensor elements (5,6) and an integrated evaluation unit (7). The sensor elements are provided by Hall elements spaced apart by a distance of between 1 and 4 mm.
