The connecting flange for flanged pipes is made up of two halves (1, 2) with overlapping sections. One section (1a) is fastened together by a bolt so that the halves can pivot without slipping. The other (1b) is either loosely bolted together or held together by a tightly fastened bolt, one of the halves then having a slot (2b') in its end which fits around the bolt shaft.
