Seat belt sensor comprises: a housing (10) with an opening (16) through which a belt is fed; a slider (18) that is mounted in the housing against the force of a spring (24) and has an opening (20) through which a belt is fed; a sensor unit (30) for detection of relative movement between slider and housing, whereby the sensor is placed in the housing alongside the slider in a position that is perpendicular to the displacement direction of the slider.
