Method for testing the gear transmission ratios of the drive train of a motor vehicle with a combustion engine, at least one step drive and an axle drive. Accordingly a number of ignition and injection impulses are measured during static operation of the combustion engine together with measurement of the corresponding rotational velocity of a drive wheel indicating the overall transmission ratio. The invention also relates to a corresponding system for implementation of the inventive method.
