Melt is divided into separate streams by a principal channel (1) and two or more secondary channels to give uniform flow on exit from the latter. Flow rate can be adjusted by variable or interchangeable restrictors (3) in the secondary channels. An Independent claim is made for a process for distributing plastic melt in an extrusion die which involves feeding plastic via a principal channel to the die and dividing the single flow into two or more uniform flows (5), each of which can be controlled.
