The circuit includes an arrangement of nonlinear bipolar load elements , such as semiconductor diodes or transistor diodes, comprising several chains (A,B,C,D) of one or more load elements (DA1...DAj, DB1...DBk, DC1...DCi, DD1...DDl). The two middle chains (A,B) have two parallel branches of load elements, each with a resistance connection (E,F) in the center. Two control terminals (X,W) are arranged at the start and end of the arrangement, and have low-resistance connections to one of the resistance connection (E,F). An Independent claim is also included for a method of controlling a resistance.
