Electromagnetic clutch control in vehicle equipped with automatic transmission, disengages clutch during vehicle stoppages extending beyond set time limit by gradual reduction of clutch energizing current
Engine controller (4) monitors accelerator position, brake switch status, range setting in the automatic transmission as well as the vehicle speed to ensure that the electromagnetic clutch (2) continues to be connected to the transmission unit (3). When vehicle stops for periods beyond a set duration, the clutch is disengaged by switching OFF the energizing current in a gradual manner.
