Promoting oxygen production and accelerating growth in photosynthetic organisms, particularly plants, comprises applying laser radiation. An Independent claim is also included for an apparatus for carrying out the above process, where the laser radiation is applied using an optical system comprising e.g. lenses, which allows laser light to be applied to the organism in a diffused manner.
