The device for the conversion of heat energy into mechanical kinetic energy consists of a base module which comprises at least one working chamber (31) for air compression, at least one element for pressure storage (23) constructed preferably as a cooler, and at least one cylinder (32) for hot gas expansion. The base module is in close working connection with other functioning sub-assemblies such as a gas heater (1), regenerator with a heat accumulator (15) and multi-chamber heater, significantly increasing the working RPM and power density to form a highly efficient operating unit. Independent claims are included for a working gas heater, for a heat accumulator and for a multi-chamber heater.
