The socket section comprises a metal bush (104) with an insulating sleeve (106) and the plug comprises a metal pin (111) which also has an insulating sleeve (109). Protective sleeves (121, 133) are fitted into the insulating sleeves and fit one inside the other when the connector is assembled. A spiral groove on one protective sleeve cooperates with a spiral rib inside the other to hold them together.
