A ceramic electronic component comprises a ceramic body (2); terminal electrodes (3) on the body; and connecting clamps (5) for connecting the electrodes using a tin-containing solder. The electrodes comprises a first electrode layer on the ceramic body and a second electrode layer on the first electrode layer. The second electrode layer comprises a conducting component containing zinc (Zn), tin (Sn) and at least one of silver (Ag) and copper (Cu). The Zn content is approximately 4 wt.% of more and lies within the solubility boundary so that no intermetallic AgZn and CuZn compounds are formed. Preferred Features: The component further comprises a separating layer which contains Zn in one of the electrode layers. The first electrode layer contains a layer of Ag and/or Cu. The second electrode layer contains Ag or Cu.
