A discharging unit (8) is provided to discharge a charge collector electrode (2) at time intervals which correspond to the switching timings of a switching unit. Positive and negative ion number data are automatically computed from alternately measured positive and negative charge quantities on the charge collector electrode. A charging unit (7) is provided to charge repelling electrodes (4) to the same polarity as the polarity of measurement subject ions.
