In the case of an adaptable lapping disc (12) and an associated method for the fine machining of spectacle lenses (67) defines a rigid base (18) of the lapping disc a spectacle lens - nominal curvature, which corresponds to a predetermined area of curves. A selectively adjustable substance (24), which consists of a mixture of thermoplastic and metallic particles, forms a layer which is disposed between the rigid base (18) and of the working surface (22), and is selectively between a fixed and a liquid can be changed. In its liquid form the modifiable substance (24) a - movement of the working surface (22), based on the base surface (18), in order to the curvatures of a plurality of spectacles glass curvatures within the predetermined range of curvatures, and to fixed in its solid shape of the substance (24) of the working surface (22) in a position corresponding to the curvature of a selected lens surface, and receives the corresponding position during the fine machining of the lens surface upright.
