Front lays (13) are disposed at the front end of a feeding table that feeds sheets in a sheet conveying direction. A vertically adjustable guide device (17) is disposed immediately upstream from the front lays. The guide device (18) is disposed upstream from and parallel to the guide device (17). An Independent claim is also included for a method of feeding sheets.
