The detector includes a rotation speed sensor (2) which outputs speed information to an electrical/electronic control device (4). During the rotation of a wheel, rotation speed signals are generated inductively, with their time spacing proportional to the speed. The sensor includes a passive radio sensor (3), the inductively generated radio signals from which are transmitted, at time intervals proportional to the speed, to a receiver (6) of the control device. The radio signals comprise an encoding associated with the rotor (1). The radio sensor has low-power circuitry for the encoding.
