The digital camera records data which can then be reproduced on the screen of a data processor. A sensor (11) is arranged on or in the camera (10). When taking a photograph, the sensor determines whether the camera is arranged horizontally or vertically and provides a corresponding signal (20) to the data processor (12). A control unit is provided in the data processor which, depending on the signal from the sensor, reproduces the data in a true-to-life manner independent of the position of the camera when taking the photograph. Alternatively, the position signal can be provided to the memory of the camera and a device (12) is provided in the camera which orients the data according to the position signal.
