A transparent tombstone is made of plastic, either from a single block or of bonded layers. Decorative features can be applied as foils, printing or milling. The decorative features can be external or, in the case of a layered structure, internal. Inscriptions can be like likewise internal or external and the shape and colour of the tombstone can be selected to match the local and personal requirements. The stone is secured into a socket.
