The trap is designed as a box-shaped case (1) with a bait compartment at the rear. The animal enters the case (1) across a raised platform (2) with a ribbed upper surface (3) and covered by a sheet of a rigid material (4) exceeding the base of the platform (2) inside the case (1) and swivel mounted (5) to the upper edge at the rear of the platform (2). When the animal enters the rear area of the sheet (4) which is not supported from below, the sheet (4) is swiveled around its axle (5), the front area is lifted towards the ceiling and closes the entrance while a locking device (6) engages with the ribs (3) on the platform (2).
