The facing lining has a lower profiled rail (7) upon which lies the lower edge of a lining element (1). The lower profiled rail is constructed to grip round the lower edge of the facing element to be lined and has a nose (8) orientated towards the front side of the lining element and which protrudes beyond the lining element. A rear leg of the lower profiled rail has an edging facing away from the fitted lining element. An upper profiled rail (5) is installed above an upper edge of the lining element and its front leg (6) lies against the lining element.
