The rear seat unit has a safety belt system (3,4) which for optional sitting and/or lying positions of a child during travel is constructed so that at least one child is supported in the hip and shoulder regions on the seat surface converted to the lying surface. A withdrawable net system (5,6) is incorporated in the seat back upholstery (2) for protection against the sun's rays, insects and noise disturbances, and side airbags provides protection of head region. The net system is in two sections and can be optionally stretched over the lying surface or can be fastened to the rear side windows to provide protection against the sun's rays.
