The chock for the fixing of movable goods on a load surface has at least one ratchet (2) fitted in or on the chock (1) for the tensioning of a strap (3). At least one hand or foot operated lever (4) is pivot-mounted in or on the chock to operate the ratchet. The lever has a neutral position in which it is located completely inside the chock. A fastening element, and preferably a hook (13) is fitted on at least one free end of the strap. The first contact face (5) for the goods, lying opposite the bottom surface (7) of the chock, is concavely curved, at least in sections.
