The bridge hinges on a horizontal axis at its ramp end and has at its free end a hinging or telescoping extension, by which it is supported on the platform of the lorry, trailer etc. Switchgear moves it into the working position from the rest one, to which it returns automatically when loading is finished. A chock is provided for the lorry wheel. A switch (19) on the chock (17) controls bridge movement from the rest position, preventing it assuming the working position if the chock is not in place. Lifting and lowering of the bridge (1) and unfolding or outward movement of the extension (8) can be dependent on the position of the chock switch. The latter can be independent of the main switchgear (20-26), all of which is at the ramp (3) itself. USE/ADVANTAGE - Loading-ramp bridge with lorry-wheel chock is simple and entirely safe in operation.
