A protective cover which prevents soiling of cooking hobs has a disposable foil with a printed pattern of the cooking positions. The user cuts out the cooking positions to be used and places the cover onto the hob. Cooking splashes are collected on the foil which can be folded and disposed off after use. The cooking positions can also be defined by perforations for easy removal.
