Two clamps (1,2) are joined by a rail or pipe (3) and have between them a threaded spindle (5) pivot mounted in them and passing through a slide clamp (6). The threaded spindle engages with the thread of the slide clamp. The clamps and the slide clamp are extended as a free arm (1.1,6.1) beyond the bearing of the threaded spindle. The free ends of the arms have support surfaces (9,10) at right angles to the plane of the threaded spindle and pipe.
