The air circulation arrangement (100) has three equally spaced columns (10) extending from the bottom to the top of the building. Air may enter the bottom of the column and may exit at the top. Streams of air (13) may flow from nozzles (20) positioned to promote a circulating or vortex flow of air (12) in the atrium (11). The air may move down from the top to the bottom of the atrium. The system may incorporate smoke sensors to switch on the air circulation and there are ventilators in the outer walls to let fresh air into the building.
