To prevent the wrong pads from being fitted where there are slight differences in the design of the brake pads (4, 5) and floating calipers (1) for the same type of floating-caliper disc brake, the invention provides for the brake pads (4, 5) to be provided on their rear sides with axial projections (13, 14) which, in the case of the inner brake pad (5), are arranged directly next to the outer circumference of the brake piston (8) and furthermore for the outer housing limb (9) to be provided with recesses (19, 20) into which the projections (13, 14) on the outer brake pad (4) project. If an attempt is made to instal the brake pads (4, 5) of one floating caliper (1) into another floating caliper with slightly different dimensions, the projections (13, 14) will prevent the brake pads (4, 5) from being pushed sufficiently far in the axial direction onto the outer housing limb (9) or the brake piston (8). As a result, the distance (D) between the friction faces of the brake pads (4, 5) is less than the thickness of the brake disc (3), making it impossible to fit a floating caliper provided with the wrong brake pads over the brake disc (3).
