A device mounted in the door of a front loading dishwasher for the evacuation of steam at the end of a wash cycle includes a casing (11, 12) in which is defined a chamber (13) which can be put into communication with the washing chamber of the machine and with the environment outside the machine via at least one steam aspiration aperture (28) and an outside air aspiration aperture (29, 30). In this chamber (13) are mounted the impeller (15) of an electric pump (14) and a flow restrictor member (32) cooperating with the said aspiration apertures (28; 29, 30). The position of this flow restrictor member (32) is controlled by an electromechanical device (46, 61) and a reset mechanism (48, 51, 52) operable to return it to a predetermined position by the effect of a variation in the attitude of the device (10) as a whole, eg caused by opening the door.
