Before printing is commenced, a desired value (Rsoll) of dot size is stored in the controller (25). Continuous measurements of the actual size (Rist) are made by an image sensor (26).The results of the comparison are used to vary the spacing of the axes (3,8,9) of the cylinders (2,4,5) and hence the contact pressures.
