To determine the location of foreign bodies in bales (26) of fibres, and especially of cotton, the relative position of the bale breaker (1) and the movement time of the fibres between the bale breaker (1) and the fibre separator (10) is registered in each relative position. The extraction process takes into account the values for the bale breaker position at the time when the foreign body (28) is extracted from the bale, and the extraction position is stored as a signal at the line of bales (26). Also claimed is a bale breaker assembly where the number of fibre extraction actions for several horizontal planes is registered in relation to the extraction position of the foreign body, and preferably displayed as a diagram.
