The invention relates to a method for sealing a tubular or pouch-shaped packaging wrapper (12) in which the packaging wrapper (12) is gathered to form a fold (18, 20). Said fold (18, 20) is subsequently enclosed by a sealing clasp (14, 16) in order to prevent the fold (18, 20) from coming undone due to a restoring force inherent to the packaging wrapper (12). In addition, the fold (18, 20) is heated to a temperature which diminishes the restoring force.
