A welding wire that forms weld metal having excellent high-temperature creep strength, toughness and welding performance when used in the inert-gas arc welding of a high-chromium ferritic heat-resisting steel, such as 9 - 12 % Cr steel, used for various electrical generation boilers, chemical pressure vessels and the like. The wire comprises, on the weight basis, 0.03 - 0.12 % of carbon, at most 0.5 % of silicon, 0.3 - 1.5 % of manganese, 8 - 13 % of chromium, 0.05 - 1.2 % of nickel, 0.3 - 1.6 % of molybdenum, 0.5 - 2.5 % of tungsten, 0.03 - 0.40 % of vanadium, 0.01 - 0.15 % of niobium, 0.0005 - 0.0006 % of boron, 0.01 - 0.08 % of nitrogen, and the balance substantially consisting of iron and inevitable impurities, wherein the total content of molybdenum and tungsten is 2.8 % or below.
