This new machine winds pre-stretched film from a supply spool, onto a reception spool. Either or both are driven. A novel feature is relative axial movement of the spools, effecting periodic variation in the position of the film edges with respect to the axis (5) of the reception spool. The movement is such that the edge profile (21) of the spooled film, is caused to exhibit a frustrated- or near conical profile. Also claimed are: the corresponding method of spooling to produce the conical profile described; and the spool of film, formed by the winding process.
