Instrument comprises an elongated housing (2) with a moving pressure element (4) at one end which is placed in contact with the skin of a patient. Associated with it is a pressure sensor (7). The moving element has an optical radiation transmitter (8) and receiver (9) for a photo-plethsymograph. The housing contains processing electronics and a display (10) allowing visualization of the measurement results.
