The device has a housing (10) with an electronic circuit (11) that is connected with a button (13), a pressure sensor (14) and a display (12). The sensor detects the blood pressure e.g. systolic or diastolic blood pressure, of a patient and sends a measurement signal to the circuit. The circuit calculates a blood pressure value and displays the calculated blood pressure value on the display. A manually-operated blower (17) e.g. rubber ball, is connected with a multi-way socket and serves for pumping a sleeve. The blower is provided at a side with a support unit that is made from sheet iron.
