The use of w3 or w6 mono and polyunsaturated fatty acid esters of tocopherol (I) in pharmaceutical, cosmetic and dietetic compositions to stimulate dermal mitochondrial respiratory capacity. The use of w3 or w6 mono and polyunsaturated fatty acid esters of tocopherol (I); R = residue of an aliphatic fatty acid having at least one double bond; n = 1 - 3 in pharmaceutical, cosmetic and dietetic compositions to stimulate dermal mitochondrial respiratory capacity. An Independent claim is also included for the preparation of (I).
