The spring damper for a Jacquard loom heddle has upper and lower (7) threaded plastic tips to engage with the ends of the heddle return spring (6). The lower tip, which is connected to a fixed component of the loom by a rod (12), is made with a friction portion (20) of increased diameter above its threaded end, forming a damping zone (A) with a length equivalent to 4 - 10 times the spring's internal diameter. The friction portion is created by a radial extension of the tip that increases its transverse dimension by an amount equivalent to the clearance between the tip and spring outside that zone. Above the damping zone the tip has a transitional zone (T) in which the thickness of the radial extension is gradually reduced to nil.
