The compact satellite navigation system has a GPS system (11) calculating the vehicle coordinates. An input mechanism (12) regulates the digital word destination. There is a wireless telecommunication radio transmitter (13) with a memory module (14), microprocessor (15) and output unit (16). The wireless telecommunications system communicates with a remote electronic map base (31) and navigation server (32). The remote unit reads the vehicle coordinates and provides all the navigation functions to guide the driver to his chosen destination.
